Heron perched on pier

We caught this cutie perched on a pier post in Destin, Florida (the Panhandle area) a while back. I think he posed purposely putting on a front for the camera!

  1. Magnificent bird. Your powerful tiger shot yesterday is great also. Thanks for your comments about the Frank Lloyd Wright Series. I was hoping it would be of interest to people. I have a few more days and then I will move on to different Chihuly, cactus and desert photos. I was in Morocco for the past two weeks so I wanted to make sure there was a series of something that would be informative and different for people to enjoy while I was away. Morocco was very interesting and, surprisingly, very French. A very different experience than Egypt or Jordan. It was a quite enjoyable trip. I will spend the next week catching up on everyone's websites and enjoying their photos. Thanks for your comments on my site. I have read them all.

  7. How close were you? It's an amazingly detailed shot, so close that when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a statue!

  8. Probably just a few feet...these herons are quite used to people and they'll suffer a great deal to get a chance at a piece of bait someone left behind or a bitty little fish someone throws their way!

  9. That was nice of him to pose for you. Kind of strange way he is holding his neck.
