Condo facing the water

It costs a little more for a water view.

  1. Are you saying that this is expensive for a condo on the water? I am not sure what the difference is between a condo, an apartment and a flat. To me this looks like a three story house.

The Australian dollar is very close to parity with the USD. There would be very few three story houses on the water anywhere on the NSW coast that we could purchase for $400,000.

  2. I want a place on the water. Is this a nice beach? Or are they all the beaches nice? Can I have a horse there? Inquiring minds want to know. MB

  3. The cost is amazing. The view is too. I am really hibernating. Doing less. A lot less.

  4. @ Hi Brattcat. Yes, new construction.

  5. @ MB - The beach is not great for swimming right here...Cedar Key is more of a fishing village...the view is wonderful, though. I've never seen horses on the island other than the ones that cart people around on tours.

  6. Seems pretty steep a price for this economy.

  7. I can't see these stilt constructions without thinking flood waters...even with IDA heading toward the Panhandle, Cedar Key residents and all of us in Florida sure have been lucky. The view is probably worth ever penny.

I wonder if they use the rope and basket method to lift their groceries?? (I've seen that on the key.)

  8. YIKES! The cost of living is atrocious down there - Do you know how big a house you could buy for $400 grand here? Jeeeeez

  9. Hmmm, as I always say, make it too :) By the way I like the two tiny doors back there.

  10. It looks a bit rickety to me. The asking price is staggering, that's just about what you'd pay in my part of Paris suburbs... Where do those ground floor doors lead to? A garage?

  11. @ Ciel - Those doors lead to a storage area. It is built on stilts so that a 12 foot storm surge (likely in a hurricane) blows through without taking down the whole structure.

  12. @ Tricia - Location, location, location!

  13. I thought it looked pricey for the size, but we're in an impoverished area. You'd get way more square footage for that here, and a water view, too. It's very compelling looking, and if someone gave it to me, I would take it :)

  14. Sunshiny days good for getting out and about, however, saw news of a hurricane, i must get out an old fashioned atlas and find out some locations around there.
Also, my humans 'got high' on a crane lift of all things!
Real estate must be boyant in that area and hope the house keeps boyant if and when the sea rises.

  15. I converted the cost to Phil. pesos and for that amount, you can get a beach side mansion here!

Maybe not in a mansion, but the beach is exactly where I want to retire to.

  16. Compare with this one, Jacob

I chose the northern NSW coastal town of Coffs Harbour which is home to many retirees. I looked for something that was 2 storeys and close to the beach.

Today at close of trade $0.93 Australian equalled USD1.00

  18. @ Cezar and Leia, et. al. Essentially the same condo around the corner (not facing the water) is $100,000 less!

  19. This is really a special offer, lol!!!

  20. I may be wrong, but I wouldn't feel very confortable living in such buildings in a hurricane area...

  21. @ Julie - Methinks I like yours better than this one...

  22. What's wrong with this price? I love Cedar Key, but with this price , we would buy a house in Ocala!!!!! Have a good week..
