Marion County Schools - headquaters

The Marion County Schools building is located in the old downtown area. It's a fairly large district with about 30 elementary schools, eight middle schools and eight high schools. It also operates a variety of other schools such as charter and technical schools.

The building is guarded in front by this colorful horse - one of the 55 plus horses around the area which are part of Ocala's "Horse Fever."

Stumpknockers

It may not look like much, but Stumpknockers is one of the more famous restaurants in North Central Florida. Located on the Withlacoochee River, it caters to a diverse crowd and from what we've been told, the food is excellent!

Spring wildflowers

These wildflowers are ubiquitous throughout central Florida in the spring. We present this batch in two versions - a regular photograph, and one treated with a Photoshop paint action.

Gate to nowhere

At one time this gate in the woods of central Florida led somewhere and served some purpose. Today, it is simply a rusted relic that sits abandoned and unused and will eventually disintegrate into dust unless someone tears it down. I though it was quite attractive - in its own way.
