Pilings and seagulls

  1. Them gulls can make a racket. Nothing like a watery boat scene. As you know, being Minnesotan means lakes and boats, docks too.

  2. Oh wow what a fantastic shot! How come the horizon is shaped like that?

  3. Well, Ciel, I don't know about the horizon! It's strange, almost like an inverted fisheye lens...what I think happened is this: Lois was using an older Nikon D70...it's got some problems in that sometimes the card will all of a sudden read "format" as if it wasn't formatted. If you continue to take pictures, the pictures turn out truncated. This one, perhaps, did not truncate all the way.

Whatever, I thought it was pretty cool!

  4. Ooo-wah ... what a corker! You go Lois. This is a terrific shot. Barnacles, rust, weathered wood, the essence of a horizon. You've won me ...

  5. @ Dusty Lens...maybe because I spent so many years in Minnesota is one reason I like Cedar Key so much!

  6. Very cute. Again, I love the reflections in the water. Very peaceful and serene photo.

  7. A bent horizon! That's very artistic, even if caused by some sort of fault in the camera! Or perhaps the edge of the world is just there! If you find some way to bend time too please let us know!

  8. The horizon struck me as well. Pincushion distortion -- I guess the camera software didn't correct for it as it was confused about the card formatting. Anyway, the colors and light in the foreground are really eye-catching!

  11. Very very nice. I like the symmetry of the old stanchions and their reflections. I've seen crooked horizon lines before, but never an inverted one like this, pretty cool and nothing that a little photoshop couldn't fix.

  12. @ Clueless...thanks! I guess I liked the inverted horizon line...kinda unique, so I left it alone. I could have just cropped it out, but I thought it added something to the picture...

@ Thanks to all for your kind comments.
