We're not there yet, but hurricane season is not far off. It is best to be prepared if you live in hurricane-prone areas!

Catholic Community of St. Timothy - another view

We have posted photos of this beautiful church previously, here.

Castillo de San Marcos - St. Augustine

The Castillo de San Marcos in Saint Augustine, Florida, is the oldest extant fort in the United States. Construction began on the fort in 1672, the purpose of which was to protect Spain's claims in the New World. It is now a national monument. If you are interested, much more information is available here.

Rooms in the Whitman house

A few days ago, we posted a picture of the red "cracker" house located on the grounds of the Cedar Key Museum. It is known as the Whitman house, and is typical of a cracker house ("cracker" refers to an architectural style which includes large wrap around porches and lots of windows) from the 1920s. These two photos give an idea of what the inside looked like.

This one's for Chris at Chris Photo Nature way up in the north country who provides us with beautiful bird photos year round!

Decked out year round

It wasn't Christmas but this cute little shop had very attractive lights up which gave the place a nice, warm glow on a summer's evening!

Gas - 38 cents a gallon?

Some of us are old enough to remember 1) Sinclair Oil and 2) this type of gasoline pump. We discovered this paean to the past in Lake Sumter Landing...and yes, it is a prop!

Underway off Hollywood Beach

For the geographically-challenged, I'm referring to Hollywood, Florida, not Hollywood, California! :-)

The Island Hopper check-in booth

If you'd like to hop around a bunch of little islands in the Gulf of Mexico, or take a beautiful sunset cruise on a warm summer's evening, this is the place to go. We've been on the sunset cruise and it was magnificent!
