Young love

Oh, to be young and in love and eating ice cream on the dock at Lake Sumter Landing!

Oklawaha United Methodist Church

Oklawaha is a small town 20 miles or so southeast of Ocala. It was the sign in front of this church that caught my attention. "Familiarity breeds contempt. Everyone welcome."

As I was taking these photos, a woman, probably the church secretary came out of the building next door, and immediately removed the words on the sign.

Hmmm.

Dock at Old Fenimore Mill Condos

This dock offers condo residents/guests a place to sit and watch the boats come in and out of the channel, a place to tie up a boat, and a place to clean fish.

Country Living

Another entrance to the very large furniture store in Lake Sumter Landing. Rather attractive, I thought.

Gator Joe's

Gator Joe's is on Lake Weir, about 20 miles southeast of Ocala, in the town of Oklawaha.

Olivia's Coffeehouse (& Bistro) - Eustis, Florida

Yesterday, we drove to the relatively small central Florida town of Eustis, on the banks of Lake Eustis. Walking through the "historic" downtown area, we became hungry and looked for a place to eat.

We spied Olivia's, which is located in the middle of a block surrounded by nondescript stores, and decided to give it a try.

And were we ever glad we did! Owned by Olivia Spilotros, Olivia's offers a good selection of beer and wine and great food. The place was spotless, and service was superb and the food was outstanding.

As you can see, it is laid out in such a manner you might think you were dining at home...comfy chairs, books to read, games to play, and at times music for your listening pleasure.

Oh, they also sell coffee.

If you're ever in Eustis, do yourself a favor and stop by Olivia's. You won't regret it!

Olivia's website is here.

Train station in Spanish Springs

No trains run here, but there are some railway artifacts at the old train station in Spanish Springs. It's quite attractive and this is the place to purchase a ticket for a van to take you to the Orlando airport. If you're flying out of Orlando, of course.

The Dock Area

This photo was taken from the new pier, looking back down Dock Street.

Waiting for the music to begin

At the Spanish Springs square in Town Center, a man and his dog await the nightly musical program. The dog, I believe, is a country music aficionado.

World Showcase - path to Canada

The first country to greet you along the World Showcase at Disney's Epcot Theme Park is Canada. Some of the buildings and Canadian artifacts are visible in the background.

On the boardwalk

Grab an ice cream cone and set yourself down in these quite comfy chairs to watch the sun go down over Lake Sumter at Lake Sumter Landing.

Capital City Bank

Capital City Bank is a friendly home-town type bank...on, naturally, Main Street!

La Reina - side entrance

La Reina, in Spanish Springs, now houses a variety of businesses, some of which can be reached by this side entrance. The photo was given a comic effect.

The hurricane effect

These photos were taken at John Lloyd State Park in Dania, Florida a few years back after one of our hurricanes. They show the erosion and other damage that a hurricane does to Florida beaches.

House for sale

You'll find this lovely little cottage, covered with greenery on Main Street, about a block from the beach. It is for sale, but I don't know the price. The photo was treated with the Triqui paint effect.

What can I say? I love staircases!

Caught this helicopter flying just off the Destin, Florida beach.
