Micanopy, an old settlement in north central Florida, is located about 35 miles north of Ocala. It is now a well-known antique center and often hosts thousands of visitors on the weekends. This is also the town where the movie, "Doc Hollywood," starring Michael J. Fox was filmed.

An Icon of Altamonte Springs

We have been visiting Altamonte Springs, a suburb of Orlando, for the past five years. The blue building in the background of this photo has not visibly changed during that time. From what I've been told, it is owned by a conservative Christian businessman who wants to operate a conservative Christian radio station from the building. But he wants people to donate money to pay for it. Evidently, he has not received the necessary donations.

So, there it sits. Unfinished. Rather an eyesore up close, but an icon of the Altamonte Springs area in that it can been seen from a variety of vantage points.
