Cedar Key Park is on the beach. On the other side of Cedar Key Park is the Park Place Motel. We first stayed at this motel in December of 1988. Had a great time. Went back several times over the years. If you can get a room on the second or third floor, you can look out over the park and the water. It appears to have been made into a condominium, but still rents out units. Give it a try if you visit Cedar Key. Great fun!

Okey doadey I'm on my way. I will tell them you all recommended the place. MB
Is December 1988 when you got to know and fall in love with the area?
@ Brattcat - Yes. We had visited in the summer of 1988; spent a couple hours walking around and had dinner at the Seabreeze restaurant. In December, we spent a week at the Park Place Motel.
Great fun and great sunsets? It must be very relaxing to just plop down and enjoy the view.
Looks relaxing...
God bless you!

I've been sooooo scared off by my only motel experience...
@ Ciel - I don't think I've heard about your "only motel experience." It must not have been a good one!
Jacob, on that National Geographic/Lindblad Cruise, I think you just open your wallet and pay like on any other cruise. I don't think you have to have any connections. Lindblad is a tour company. I looks like a worthwhile type of tour, for sure. It seems they have knowledgeable staff to talk about the wildlife, as well.
Have fun in Cedar Key. You know I like all those garish (I mean artistic) colors!
