Hollywood Beach perfected

I had a bit of fun with this photo...trying out some different colorations. Thought this was rather effective.

Not lazy, just tired

His master runs a boat rental business, but this canine really doesn't much care, so long as he gets his afternoon nap.

The Zombie Chicken Award

Lois Anne and I wish to express our gratitude to Tricia at the Bluff Area Daily Photo blog for this wonderful award. It does signify, humorously, the sort of serious manner in which we undertake The Villages Daily Photo blog. We're not sure what else it signifies, but we sure as heck like it!

Here's the "official" verbiage related to the award:

"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken -- excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chicken by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all..."

So, with that in mind, and even though there are hundreds of bloggers out there who deserve this award, we have chosen the following:

1. Daryl - onthem104.blogspot.com

2. Juergen - Marburg Daily Photo

3. Mary - Detroit Daily Blog

4. Hilda - My Manila

5. M-M - Nowy Sacz Daily Photo

6. Steffe - Photos from Haninge

7. Susie of Arabia -Jeddah Daily Photo Journal

Theater windows on main street - Sumter Landing

This is the main street in Sumter Landing. The windows look in on the lobby of the theater which I believe offers 6 or 8 different movies for your viewing pleasure.

Micanopy post office handicapped parking

This motorized wheelchair was the only vehicle at the post office in Micanopy when I took this picture. An older woman drove up in the wheelchair, parked in the handicapped parking space, got out of the wheelchair and walked into the post office.

(Micanopy, you may recall is that small town just south of Gainesville noted internationally for its antique stores).

Crippled bird attacks food

You will note this poor gull has suffered an injury and is limping around on one leg. For some reason the other gulls left him alone so he could go after the fish left behind by some fishermen.

The Waterfront Inn at Sumter Landing - side view

This photo by Lois Anne has been posterized.

Bumper sticker warning

Some people in Florida wear their faith, their fears and their hopes on the bumpers of their cars. I'm not sure what this bumper sticker means. I'm not sure I want to find out, either.

The new pier at Cedar Key

Lazing away the day, fishing on the new Cedar Key pier. That includes the Pelicans!

Trees and Sky

I just liked the way the trees and sky went together in this shot, which was taken at Dade Park between Ocala and Tampa, the site of a bloody battle between the Seminole Indians and the U.S. Army.

This photo has been Photoshopped for a watercolor effect. This is the sinking boat from another angle.

Dock in back bay

Derelict fishing boat leaking away at Lake Sumter

In keeping with the Disneyesque tradition, the powers-that-be brought in this derelict boat and anchored it in Lake Sumter; to lend, I think, a bit of reality to what is essentially an unreal situation.

It's cute though, sitting there, leaking away.

Swedish outdoor doggie restroom

Per Stromsjo wanted to see a photo of a Swedish-colored house (blue and yellow), but I haven't been able to find one yet. I did have this photo of a Swedish outdoor doggie restroom, however. It is located in downtown Clermont, Florida.

You don't have to be a Swedish dog to use it, though.

Cedar Key Fire Station

Relatively speaking, this is a new fire station for Cedar Key. The old station was located on Main Street, and if you saw it (which you will) you would agree a new one was badly needed.

Again, I liked both the color and the B&W.

Trying to stay upright

This is Clermont, Florida. Lois Anne caught me coming down the path that winds around the lake. Yes, I was exhausted. We had ridden about 8 miles in the opposite direction (lots of very steep hills) and 8 miles back. It was the hills that killed this old man!

Dusk has arrived

This is a slightly different version of yesterday's post, taken a bit later and from farther away. You can see it is getting darker and the colors are deeper and more vibrant.
