Be American?

"Stand up for America!! Be American!!" Hmmm. Wonder what that means? Since I live in the U.S., does that count? If I see George and/or Lois, I'll ask them.

Just to be picky, it should read "Stand up for the USA. Be a USA-an." Still sounds a little defensive.

I mean, Canadians are "Americans" (North Americans). Mexicans are "Americans" (Central Americans). Brazilians are "Americans" (South Americans).

Personally, I say, "Stand up for Minnesota! Be Minnesotan!"
Is that so wrong?

So they are driving around saying to 'stand up'---sounds odd. Oh well they are in golf land. MB

I'll leave you guys to squabble over it. I'm an old European.

@ VP - I kind of like that - has a nice ring to it! And Amerigo would have been proud!

Hi Jacob,

I think you should just say: I stand up for my family. That's a lot easier. We all want to protect our family but we don't always agree with the crazy things our politicians do and think we should support-:)

Best regards
Asta

In France, the government is asking people in meetings and in the press what it means to be French. Not quite sure what it means to me after the present president said: France, you love it or you leave it. Being in Spain, I suppose I am a bad Frenchman.
