Key West - 23 years ago

I found these old Key West shots while rummaging around on my computer the other day...the first one is a store front scene on Duval Street, and the second is what I remember as the Episcopal church.

If you've never been to Key West, it is definitely worth visiting; at least once!

If you see Denise...

If you see Denise, tell her we found her boat floating in Lake Sumter, The Villages!

Take only a few sand dollars

Sand dollars are in high demand. Some people take too many and thus diminish the population.

Lights 'neath a hot tin roof

These lights, arrayed in such a nice configuration, are on the side of the building that houses the radio station in Lake Sumter Landing.

Cypress knees and cypress trees

The little knobby things growing out of the ground are called Cypress Knees. They provide a way for a cypress tree to "breathe" when under water. Many cypress trees in north central Florida are hundreds of years old. For the first 40 years, they grow at the pace of a normal tree. But from then on, they grow 1.25 inches in diameter every 47 years! You determine how old a cypress tree is from its circumference, not from its height.

The Island Hopper

If you visit Cedar Key, book a sunset cruise with the Island Hopper. You will not, I guarantee, be disappointed!

Keeping things in check

It appears that these gentlemen are checking the scene at the Spanish Springs square -- you know, in case any of the old folks get too rowdy.

The Cedar Key grocery store

While there are a couple of small 7-11 type stores in Cedar Key, this is the only grocery store.
