Nick the bird man

Nick Silva is originally from Brazil. Currently he lives in DeBary, Florida, and sells birds that he raises through the Internet and at a local flea market. Nick is also a trainer of police dogs, and is a very fine gentleman.

This old house

This old house is falling down and it doesn't appear anybody is in a hurry to fix it.

Bridge to shopping, churches and residential areas

From downtown Spanish Springs you can take a road leading over this bridge to several churches, various shops, medical facilities, and the Spanish Springs residential areas. It is used by both automobiles and golf carts.

Antique shops in Micanopy

Micanopy is that small town just south of Gainesville noted for its antique shops. The cars are parked in front of some of the buildings along the main drag which have been renovated and are now antique shops.

Pier in the back bay

People living along the main road back up to the back bay. Some of them have their own piers to which they can tie up their boats.

Cruising on Lake Sumter

We very seldom see this boat take passengers on a cruise of Lake Sumter. So, when it happened Lois Anne was at the ready with her camera. It appears there is only one passenger - at the rear of the boat.

Beach House on Hollywood Beach

There are a number of homes that sit facing the Atlantic Ocean toward the north end of Hollywood Beach where the Boardwalk ends. This one has been recently remodeled with new paint and new awnings.

Law Office

One drives into Cedar Key on a narrow two-lane road bordered by an assortment of motels, small homes, fishing camps, boat marinas, churches, stores, etc. And that is where this particular lawyer decided to hang out his shingle. I think this was probably a store of some kind in its original incarnation.

Spanish Springs Villas

The Villages is a huge community and contains a variety of different types of housing. These are a few upscale villas located near the Spanish Springs downtown area.

Hollywood Beach Boardwalk

The authorities have, within the past few years, "remodeled" the Hollywood Beach boardwalk, which runs about 3 miles along the Atlantic in Hollywood, Florida.

Opposite of the beach and the boardwalk are numerous hotels, motels, restaurants and shops. At about the center of the boardwalk you'll find a bandshell which is used for concerts.

Many Canadian and European families spend the winters in this area, and you will often hear country western music sung in French emanating from one of the bars.

This photo was taken last Thanksgiving, thus the holiday decorations.

Gulls in flight

Similar to a photo we posted a few days ago, this shot by Lois Anne captured a multitude of gulls as they took off en masse toward the sun.

Located just across from the Spanish Springs town square, this is one of the nicer restaurants in Spanish Springs.

Christ Church - Episcopal

Generally speaking, if you see a church with red doors in the U.S., it will turn out to be an Episcopal Church. This is located on the main drag as you come into the "downtown" area of Cedar Key.
