Lake Sumter Landing train station

Lois Anne took this photograph at that magical moment when the sky turns blue and wraps up the earth. It is a Disneyesque creation meant to represent an old train station. But no trains ride the rails here. You can, however, hop on a sight-seeing tram that will take you through the Lake Sumter Landing area.

St. Joseph's in the Woods

St. Joseph's is a Roman Catholic parish located in the Ocala National Forest, on Highway 40, about 20 miles or so east of Ocala. The photo has been polarized.

Evening arrives in all its glory

Notice the pelican on the roof of the restaurant! He is real!

The boardwalk at Lake Sumter Landing

Ninth tee and green

I have put many golf balls into the water between the ninth tee (to the right) and green on this beautiful golf course, which is the Pine Island Ridge Golf course in Davie, Florida. I took this photo a few years ago when we lived in Pine Island Ridge, not far from this site.

Checking out the new pier

We watched these kids come skipping along on the new pier and then climb up on the railing to see what they could see (or imagine) in the water. I thought it made a cute photograph!

Concert in progress at Spanish Springs

It was country music and it was very good and people drank and danced and had a very nice evening...

Gathering for a concert at Spanish Springs

The people gather early some nights. But every night a free concert is held in the hometown squares of Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing. Here folks are getting comfortable in Spanish Springs waiting for the music and dancing to begin.

Cafe reflections

On main street in Deland, Florida. Very nice-looking cafe, but what caught my eye were the various reflections in the window.

Early evening in Lake Sumter Landing

Lois Anne grabbed this shot at that magical time when the sky meets the earth...you'll notice the water tower off in the distance - glowing yellow from the fading sun...

Camping equipment?

This collection of gear stands at the entrance to a store in Lake Sumter Landing but I have no idea what they sell. It was closed when we went by and difficult to see into. It may be part of that huge furniture store.

Motorbike man impaled in bale of hay

I have no clue what this is about. You will find it on Highway 40, heading east, about 5-6 miles from Ocala. It does attract attention, for sure.

Old Fenimore Mill Condos

Last week, we spent two nights in this condo overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and the channel to the back bay. It is very nice and we had a great time. The Old Fenimore Mill Condos are built on the site of the Old Fenimore Mill. Makes sense. You can read more about these condos here.
