Red Sauce

The Red Sauce, in Lake Sumter Landing, is a new Italian restaurant in the same building that formerly housed another Italian restaurant, Dominig's.

Lois Anne and I ate there recently and found the food to be very good, the service excellent, and the prices reasonable.

Lake Sumter Landing at night

If you look closely, you'll see I was just able to sneak in that sliver of a moon!

Primitive Baptist Church

We found this Primitive Baptist Church in Deland, Florida. We have no idea as to what "primitive" means, but were further puzzled by the fact it appeared there was no place for parishioners to park while attending services.

Staircase in Spanish Springs

Back to one of my favorite subjects - staircases. This one is located at the rear of a building that faces Main Street in Spanish Springs. Notice that you may not smoke on the landing!

An idle cat

What can I say. This cat was doing nothing. Surely there was work to be done somewhere!

Dock Street Depot

We have not eaten at this restaurant, but downstairs is a small ice cream parlor with all sorts of goodies. We did partake of some ice cream and enjoyed eating same on the little deck overlooking the water.

Life is tough in Cedar Key.

Amigos in Spanish Springs

I love signs and thought this was a good one. The colors are bright and eye-catching and it makes you feel welcome by calling you amigo!

Amigos is located on the first floor of La Reina in Spanish Springs. We have not yet eaten there, but plan to rectify that error in judgment quite soon.

A medium house

Not too large, not too small, it's a medium(s) house in Cassadaga!

Cruisin' down Main Street

It was unusually quiet one late afternoon when we spotted this gentleman cruisin' down Main Street in Spanish Springs.

Whatever happened to my wheelchair?

Someone somewhere is wondering today what happened to his/her wheelchair...maybe this is it?

Dock rest area

If you've been shopping for awhile and need a nice place to sit and rest, you will find this in the middle of Dock Street. It is in back of a gift shop. Upstairs on the right is a motel for folks who like to be in the middle of the action.

Golf car dining

It's hard to beat enjoying a meal in your golf car while listening to great country music!

We are one!

A message from Cassadaga.

This little boat...

This little boat went out on the water. And it was almost run down by another little boat. That huge expanse of water, and those guys had to cut right in front of him! Reminded me of rush hour in Miami!

Cutesy golf club covers

It seems that almost everyone living in The Villages plays golf. There are probably 30 golf courses between Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing. Often, when a group finishes a round of golf, they buzz into one of the home towns for a drink or something to eat.

I think these people were eating at Up The Creek in Lake Sumter Landing. But aren't those cute head covers?

Humpbacked railroad crossing

I had never seen a sign like this before. So, naturally, I had to investigate. It seems the railroad crossing just ahead has a large hump; large enough to create a problem for a vehicle towing another vehicle.

Who'd a thought that would be a problem? Evidently it became a problem. Thus, the powers that be put up a sign. But try to figure out that sign going 35 miles an hour. Especially if you've never seen one before.
