On the side of the road

In Spanish Springs, the powers-that-be ensure beauty everywhere, even along the roadways.

On the ground in five minutes

In the skies above Davie, Florida, approaching the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport...should be on the ground within five minutes; 15 minutes to the gate.

Cruising in Spanish Springs

Miami camels

A camel couple at the Miami Zoo. Do you suppose they got their name from Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona?

Chartreuse?

This one's for Tapirgal, our Astoria, Oregon daily photo blogger, who loves the beautiful and "artistic" colors we so often find in Cedar Key. Our chartreuse subject of this post is located just across from the City Park.

We are planning to be in Cedar Key tomorrow for the annual Seafood Festival, which includes an arts and craft show, parade, boat rides and more.

Bon weekend to all!

Sales office - The Villages

If you are interested in purchasing a home in The Villages, this might well be your first stop. Trained sales personnel will assist you in locating the home of your dreams.

The sales office (formerly in La Reina) has been relocated to the main street coming into Spanish Springs from Highway 441.

Dontcha just love the sign: Est. 1887?

Another view of "old Florida"

Park Place Motel

Cedar Key Park is on the beach. On the other side of Cedar Key Park is the Park Place Motel. We first stayed at this motel in December of 1988. Had a great time. Went back several times over the years. If you can get a room on the second or third floor, you can look out over the park and the water. It appears to have been made into a condominium, but still rents out units. Give it a try if you visit Cedar Key. Great fun!

Buckboard at Spanish Springs

I think they call this thing a buckboard...whatever, it's a very nice decorative piece that graces downtown Spanish Springs.

Vista View Park - Davie, Florida

Vista View Park was created on an old landfill in Davie, Florida. It now consists of beautiful sites for picknicking, biking, jogging, rollerblading and just having fun. This photo was taken at the top looking out over the cities of Davie and Fort Lauderdale. Off in the distance on the left, you can barely see downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Lights out!

Soaps by the Slice in Spanish Springs

Both Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing conduct open markets in the area surrounding their town squares on a regular basis. Vendors set up stalls and offer a wide variety of goods. This particular "store" in Spanish Springs caught our attention. Soaps by the Slice has a wonderful assortment of soaps in many different colors and shapes which you can buy by the slice. They smell good, too.
