Elzey United Methodist Church

From what we could see, Elzey, Florida doesn't consist of much more than this church. It is a United Methodist Church, established about 1850, although I don't think this was the original building. Elzey is located in north central Florida about 20 miles east of Cedar Key.

Well... it's a very pretty one. Forgive the cliché, but when I see these lovely white churches, I can't help thinking about "little house on the prairie". I know, I know, stupid... ;-)

CQ - I think that's appropriate. These churches are very much part of that era...This place was evidently begun before the Civil War. Maybe it was originally a mission to the Indians?

What a cute building! Very difficult to tell it's a church, it doesn't feature a visible cross. Nice photo!

Great little church! I can't help taking pictures of them....wonder where my churches are hiding. Anyway, I just presented you a Butterfly Award on my Nostalgia Today and Yesterday blog.

Hello I am Rob Doran and I have been the present appointed Pastor at this tiny church since 2005.
The building you see was re-built from the original. The 1850 Sanctuary was a log cabin style church.
In the early 20th century there was a fire and the sanctuary was rebuilt.
The smaller part in the back that you see is attached to the sanctuary and it is our fellowship hall. Our fellowship hall was built in 2004.The sign on the front of the sanctuary says Ellzey United Methodist Church Enter Rest Pray.
Our Sanctuary is left unlocked and open 24/7.
