Yes, it probably made more sense to build the fence around the stump. Adds character.

If I could find it, there is a road in Vigo County that splits in order to go around a tree...that is the first thing I thought of when I seen this.

That old tree isn't going to let any fence get in it's way.

I nailed a horseshoe on a tree so the kids (when they were little) could hang their horses there--when they got off. And over the years the tree grew almost all around the horseshoe. Pretty neat I thought. MB
