Weeki Wachee Springs - Florida kitsch

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park is a Florida "institution," it's biggest attraction being "live" mermaids. It may be a little old, and a little tacky and run-down, but people from all over the world still come to visit and to watch mermaids swim around in a tank of water.

We visited a couple of weeks ago, but the park closed just as we got there (3 pm)...so we weren't able to get inside to get a closer look.

For more information on this park which survives as part of Florida's past (before Disney), click here.

Tacky and fun :) I like your photos with all that blue and white. I agree with Ciel, I hope you go back and take pix of the mermaids!
