Iguanas galore

These darn things are very hard to photograph...they're very skittish and run like the wind.

In South Florida, they've been breeding big time and have become a problem in many areas. These two live with many others in the trees, rocks and ponds of our daughter's home in Davie, Florida.

Just the other day, in Fort Lauderdale, I believe, a young girl tried to feed an iguana some strawberries and the thing bit her, creating a huge mess which required about 63 stitches to close.

Oftentimes, you can see them wandering down the sidewalks.

63 stitches?! I had forgotten about those little lizard-y things at my mother-in-law's home (Deltona FL), but now I remember. Yeech. No iguanas for me!

Nicely camoflauged in the first one! Only noticeable in the second with the rear shot! Nice Catch!

They are cute - never seen them in wild! Amazing photos Jacob. I wonder If I rally liked them living in my garden - aren't they a bit dangerous?
Have a great day!

They are really beautiful but perhaps feeding them is not the best idea.

Wonderful Jacob!
Yesterday Cezar and I was enjoying that old ( or not so...) movie "Jurassic park"! Can you imagine this adorable green friend very huge!?
Cool and interesting. More interesting because I could never imagine this iguana enjoying strawberries! I think he is very clever! :)

@ Chris - Nah...it's not in my nature to be a nature photographer! If I could shoot like you do, I'd consider it, but I'm lucky to shoot myself in the foot!

When you walk down the sidewalks, do you strike a conversation with them as you seem to do with parrots? The first photo is a great camouflage operation. Super!

@ Ciel - Nah...if you run into them on the sidewalk they skedaddle! And like most everybody else, they don't what to hear what I've got to say. They're very good at camouflage...they run for the trees and once they get up in the branches they turn brown and are almost impossible to spot!
